REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A WORK VISA FOR ENGAGING IN PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES IN OTHER BUSINESS SECTORS

IMPORTANT NOTICE : All documents in foreign languages must be translated into Portuguese (excepted Passport, International Health Certificate, flight and hotel reservation) and previously authenticated by the local authorities (in Austria: Provincial Tribunals "Landesgerichte" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Legalisierungsbüro; in Croatia and Slovenia: Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Please request an ordinary authentication, no Apostille. Thereafter, documents must be authenticated by the Consular Section of the Embassy of Angola in Austria (for info rmation: please click here).

a) Letter from the employer addressed to the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Angola, c.c. to the Angolan Immigration Authority "Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros", containing the applicant's personal data as follows:

- Full name

- Nationality

- Parent's names

- Date of Birth

- Passport number and date of expiration

- Profession and position to be fullfilled

b) Recommendation (“Parecer”) of the competent Ministry, authenticated by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs

c) Copy of the Trade Register Entry (“Alvará Comercial”) of the employer and respective copy of the publication in the Official Gazette (“Diário da República”) where the constitution of the company was announced

d) Copy of the Document on Collection of Revenues (“Documento de Arrecadação de Receitas – DAR”) of the employer

e) 1 completed application form, filled up in block capitals or typed, black ink duly signed by the applicant

f) 1 recent colour passport size photograph

g) Copies of the main pages of the passport, as well as all the pages showing visas, seals, notes

h) Statement agreeing to abide by the Angolan Laws. SAMPLE TEXT : click here

i) Work contract or confirmation of employment offer

j) Diplomas, certificates for tertiary and professional qualifications

k) Curriculum vitae, translated into Portuguese and duly authenticated

l) Police clearance certificate from country of residence

m) Proof of residence in Austria ("Meldezettel"), Croatia (“Uvjerenje o prebivalištu) or Slovenia (“Potrdilo o stalnem prebivališču”) with its official translation into Portuguese and authentication by the Ministry of Foreign Afffairs.

n) Health certificate from the country of residence (to include all contagious diseases)

o) Copy of the International Vaccination Certificate, main page with holder's data and page with vaccination against yellow fever

p) If the employer is a public institution: certification from the Ministry for Public Administration, Employment and Social Security (Ministério de Administração Pública, Emprego e Segurança Social); if the employer is a private company: certification from the competent licensing Ministry, authenticated by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

INFORMATION FOR THE ANGOLAN EMPLOYER

1. For the issuance of the work visa it is necessary for the employer to make a cash guarantee deposit in order to allow the eventual repatriation of the foreign employee and his family members.

2. The guarantee deposit in convertible currency equalling the price of an outward ticket from Angola, to the home country of country of residence of the foreign employee and his family members.

3. Companies with more than 100 foreign employees can make a collective cash guarantee deposit in the amount of USD 50,000.00. For information on the collective deposit, please contact the Angolan Immigration Authority “Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros” in Luanda.

4. The guarantee is to be deposited in one of the accounts maintained by the Angolan Immigration Authority. For information on the account number and bank name, please contact the Angolan Immigration Authority “Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros” in Luanda.

5. The Ministry of Interior can authorize the exemption of guarantee payment in case of foreign employees working for public institutions or companies.

6. The cash deposit shall be reimbursed under following circumstances:

- upon definitive departure of the foreign employee and upon written notification to the Angolan Immigration Authority “Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros” informing on the termination of the work contract

- if the work contract is terminated as foreseen in one of its clauses

7. Reimbursement of the cash deposit is only possible if written request is received at the Angolan Immigration Authority “Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros” within 30 days after definitive departure of the foreign employee.
