THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY:
The National Assembly exercises the Country's legislative power. It is at present composed by 220 Members elected by universal, equal, direct and secret suffrage for a four-year term of office. The National Assembly is presided over by Mr. Roberto Victor de Almeida (MPLA).

MAIN DUTIES:
Amend the current Constitutional Law and approve the Constitution of the Republic of Angola
Approve laws on all matters, except those reserved by the Constitutional Law for the Government.
Confer legislative authorizations on the Government.
Approve, on the proposal of the Government, the National Plan and the General State Budget, as well as the reports on the execution of the National Plan and the General State Budget.
Establish and alter the political and administrative division of the country.
